Course: Dinner
Cuisine: American

Ingredients

  • 8 Chicken thighs, skin-on, bone-in (about 3 pounds)
  • 2 teaspoons Paprika
  • 2 teaspoons Kosher salt
  • 1.5 teaspoons Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Onion powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 0.75 cup BBQ sauce Your favorite brand or 2 cups homemade, plus more for serving

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Small bowl

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with foil for easier cleanup.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the paprika, kosher salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper to create the spice rub.
  3. Pat the chicken thighs dry with paper towels. Rub the spice mixture evenly over all surfaces of the chicken thighs.
  4. Place the seasoned chicken thighs skin-side up on the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Bake for 25 minutes.
  6. Remove the pan from the oven. Brush the BBQ sauce over the tops of the chicken thighs.
  7. Return the chicken to the oven and bake for another 15 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the sauce is slightly caramelized.
  8. Let the chicken rest for a few minutes before serving with extra BBQ sauce, if desired.

Notes

Cooking time may vary based on the exact size of the chicken thighs. Use a meat thermometer to check for doneness.
