Equipment

  • 9x13 inch baking pan
  • Mixing bowls
  • Whisk
  • Spatula
  • Knife
  • Piping bag
  • Star tip

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter and sugar. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder, flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking pan.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs.
  7. Let the brownies cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.
  8. While the brownies cool, prepare the frosting. In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. If desired, add green food coloring and mix well.
  9. Once the brownies are completely cool, cut them into tree shapes. You can do this by cutting squares and then trimming the corners to form triangles, or by using a tree-shaped cookie cutter.
  10. Transfer the frosting to a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Pipe frosting onto the brownie trees to resemble garland.
  11. Decorate with sprinkles.

Notes

You can also use store-bought brownie mix for a quicker option. Ensure the brownies are fully cooled before cutting and decorating to prevent them from breaking.
