Method
- In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and yeast. Add warm water and mix until a shaggy dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth. Gradually incorporate the softened butter, kneading until fully combined.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle, about 12x8 inches.
- In a small bowl, mix melted butter, minced garlic, parsley, and salt.
- Brush the butter mixture evenly over the dough. Sprinkle half of the shredded cheese over the butter mixture.
- Roll the dough up tightly, starting from the long side, to form a log. Cut the log into 6 equal pieces.
- Place each piece cut-side up into a greased muffin tin. Press down gently to flatten.
- Cover the muffin tin and let the cruffins rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Brush the tops of the cruffins with any remaining melted butter mixture. Sprinkle with the remaining cheese.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Let cool slightly in the muffin tin before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
Serve warm. These are best enjoyed the day they are made.
