Servings: 6 cruffins
Course: Appetizer, Snack
Cuisine: American

Ingredients

For the Dough
  • 250 g all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp instant yeast
  • 120 ml warm water
  • 50 g unsalted butter softened
For the Filling and Topping
  • 50 g unsalted butter melted
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/2 tsp dried parsley
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 100 g shredded cheddar cheese

Equipment

  • Muffin tin
  • Rolling Pin
  • Pastry brush

Method

  1. In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and yeast. Add warm water and mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  2. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth. Gradually incorporate the softened butter, kneading until fully combined.
  3. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  4. Punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle, about 12x8 inches.
  5. In a small bowl, mix melted butter, minced garlic, parsley, and salt.
  6. Brush the butter mixture evenly over the dough. Sprinkle half of the shredded cheese over the butter mixture.
  7. Roll the dough up tightly, starting from the long side, to form a log. Cut the log into 6 equal pieces.
  8. Place each piece cut-side up into a greased muffin tin. Press down gently to flatten.
  9. Cover the muffin tin and let the cruffins rise for another 30 minutes.
  10. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  11. Brush the tops of the cruffins with any remaining melted butter mixture. Sprinkle with the remaining cheese.
  12. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  13. Let cool slightly in the muffin tin before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Serve warm. These are best enjoyed the day they are made.
