- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the mushrooms to the skillet and cook, stirring occasionally, until browned and tender, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add the chopped onion to the skillet and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
- Stir in the minced garlic, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper (if using). Cook for 1 minute more until fragrant.
- Pour in the beef broth and scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet.
- Simmer for 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.
- Stir in the fresh parsley. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
- Serve hot.
Notes
You can substitute other types of mushrooms like button or shiitake. For a spicier kick, add more cayenne pepper.
