Servings: 4 filets
Course: Dinner
Cuisine: American

Ingredients

SALMON
  • 4 salmon filets 6 oz each
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika or regular paprika
  • 1/4 tsp blackening seasoning optional
SAUCE
  • 3 Tbsp butter
  • 2 tsp olive oil
  • 6 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 3 Tbsp water
  • 3 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 Tbsp sriracha sauce
  • 2 Tbsp lemon juice

Equipment

  • Large oven-safe skillet

Method

  1. Pat the salmon dry. Season the salmon with salt, pepper, paprika, and blackening seasoning if you are using it. Set the salmon aside.
  2. Adjust the oven rack to the middle position. Preheat the broiler. If you place the rack too high, the sauce will burn.
  3. Add butter and oil to a large, oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Once the butter melts, add garlic, water, soy sauce, sriracha, honey, and lemon juice. Cook for about 30 seconds until the sauce is heated through.
  4. Add the salmon, skin side down if your salmon has skin. Cook for 3 minutes. While the salmon cooks, spoon the sauce from the pan over the top of the salmon frequently.
  5. Broil the salmon for 5 to 6 minutes. Baste the salmon with sauce one time during the broiling process until the salmon is caramelized and cooked as you prefer.
  6. Garnish with minced parsley if you want.

Notes

This recipe uses a broiler, which is often available in dorm settings via a toaster oven or similar small appliance.
