Cuisine: Italian

Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 0.5 lb Italian Sausage
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 24 oz pasta sauce
  • 1 cup water
  • 0.5 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 9 lasagna noodles Broken into pieces
Cheese Mixture
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 0.25 cup Grated Parmesan
  • 0.25 tsp salt
  • 0.25 tsp freshly cracked black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella

Equipment

  • Large skillet with lid

Method

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the Italian sausage and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned. Drain any excess grease.
  2. Add the minced garlic to the skillet and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Pour in the pasta sauce and water. Stir in the Italian seasoning. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
  4. Break the lasagna noodles into pieces about 2 inches long and stir them into the simmering sauce. Cover the skillet and cook for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the noodles are tender. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
  5. While the noodles cook, combine the ricotta cheese, Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper in a small bowl to make the cheese mixture.
  6. Once the noodles are cooked, remove the skillet from the heat. Drop spoonfuls of the ricotta mixture over the top of the lasagna sauce. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella evenly over the top.
  7. Cover the skillet again and let it stand for 5 minutes to allow the cheese to melt before serving.

Notes

You can use ground beef or ground turkey instead of Italian sausage if you prefer a different meat base.
