Million Dollar Bacon Crostini

Ingredients
  

For the Bacon
  • 12 slices bacon thick-cut
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper optional
For the Crostini
  • 1 baguette bread sliced 1/2 inch thick
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • Oven

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and cayenne pepper, if using.
  4. Coat each slice of bacon with the brown sugar mixture. Place the bacon in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and caramelized. Let it cool on the baking sheet.
  6. While the bacon bakes, arrange the bread slices on another baking sheet. Brush both sides with olive oil.
  7. Bake the bread for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crisp.
  8. Once the bacon has cooled, chop it into small pieces.
  9. Top each crostini with the chopped bacon.

Notes

You can add a sprinkle of fresh chives or a drizzle of balsamic glaze before serving for extra flavor.
