Method
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and cayenne pepper, if using.
- Coat each slice of bacon with the brown sugar mixture. Place the bacon in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and caramelized. Let it cool on the baking sheet.
- While the bacon bakes, arrange the bread slices on another baking sheet. Brush both sides with olive oil.
- Bake the bread for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crisp.
- Once the bacon has cooled, chop it into small pieces.
- Top each crostini with the chopped bacon.
Notes
You can add a sprinkle of fresh chives or a drizzle of balsamic glaze before serving for extra flavor.
