Total Time 25 minutes
Servings: 12 bites
Course: Dessert, Snack
Cuisine: American

Ingredients

For the Mummy Bites
  • 1 package refrigerated biscuit dough such as Pillsbury Grands Flaky Layers
  • 12 hot dogs or cocktail wieners cut in half if using full-size hot dogs
  • 1 egg beaten (for egg wash)
  • 12 candy eyeballs
Optional for Serving
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup mustard

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Knife
  • Cutting board

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll the biscuit dough and separate the biscuits. Cut each biscuit into 3-4 thin strips.
  3. Wrap each hot dog half with the biscuit strips to resemble mummy bandages, leaving a small space for the eyes.
  4. Place the wrapped hot dogs on the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Brush the mummy bites with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and cooked through.
  7. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Press two candy eyeballs into the space you left for the eyes on each mummy bite.
  8. Serve warm with ketchup and mustard for dipping, if desired.

Notes

You can use different types of dough, such as crescent rolls, for a different texture. Ensure the candy eyeballs are firmly pressed into the dough before baking or immediately after they come out of the oven.
