Ingredients
  

For the Cookies
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup vegetable shortening
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 4 large eggs
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 8 ounces German chocolate, chopped
  • 1 cup pecans, chopped

Method
 

  1. Cream together the butter and shortening in a large bowl until smooth.
  2. Add the granulated sugar and vanilla extract, and beat until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Stir in the chocolate chips, German chocolate, and pecans.
  7. Cover the dough and chill for at least 10 minutes.
  8. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  9. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets.
  10. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown.
  11. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
