- Preheat your oven to 350 F.
- Microwave the butter for about 40 seconds until it is completely melted but not hot.
- In a large bowl, mix the melted butter with the granulated sugar and brown sugar until well combined.
- Stir in the vanilla extract and egg until incorporated.
- Add the flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined. The dough should be soft and a little sticky but not overly sticky.
- Stir in the chocolate chips.
- Scoop out 1.5 tablespoons of dough (use a medium cookie scoop) and place the dough balls 2 inches apart on a baking sheet.
- Bake for 7 to 10 minutes, or until the cookies are set. They will look puffy and slightly underbaked in the middle.
