- Combine the pasta, water, broth, tomatoes, oil, Italian seasoning, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and crushed red pepper in a large pot.
- Cover the pot and bring the mixture to a boil over high heat.
- Uncover the pot, reduce the heat to medium-high, and cook, stirring frequently, for 10 minutes.
- Stir in the kale and cook, stirring often, until most of the liquid has been absorbed, which takes about 5 to 7 minutes more.
- If you are using spinach instead of kale, add it after about 10 minutes of cooking so it cooks in the remaining 2 to 3 minutes.
- Stir in the basil.
- Garnish with Parmesan cheese, if you want to.
