Wet Ingredients
  • 3 large ripe bananas mashed
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1 large egg lightly beaten
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
Dry Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
Mix-ins
  • 1 cup chocolate chips semi-sweet or milk

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mash the ripe bananas until mostly smooth. Stir in the melted butter, beaten egg, and vanilla extract until combined.
  3. In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients. Mix gently with a spatula until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread evenly.
  7. Bake for 55 to 65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before removing it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

Notes

For a richer flavor, you can substitute brown sugar for the granulated sugar. If your bananas are not very ripe, the bread will be less sweet.
