Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1.5 cups Granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp Baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup Milk Whole milk recommended
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted butter Softened
  • 2 Large eggs
  • 2 tsp Vanilla extract

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour two 8-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the milk, softened butter, eggs, and vanilla extract.
  4. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients. Mix with an electric mixer on low speed until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
  6. Bake for 28 to 32 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes before inverting them onto a wire rack to cool completely before frosting.

Notes
