Ingredients

For the Dirt
  • 24 cookies Oreo cookies about 1 package
For the Pudding
  • 1 package instant chocolate pudding mix 3.4 oz size
  • 2 cups milk
For Decoration
  • 12 cookies Milano cookies or other rectangular cookies for tombstones
  • 12 gummy worms
  • 1 tube black edible marker

Equipment

  • 12 clear plastic cups
  • Whisk
  • Spoon
  • Food processor or plastic bag and rolling pin

Method

  1. Crush the Oreo cookies into fine crumbs using a food processor or by placing them in a plastic bag and crushing them with a rolling pin. Set aside.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the instant chocolate pudding mix and milk until well combined and slightly thickened. Let it sit for about 5 minutes.
  3. Using the black edible marker, write epitaphs or spooky messages on the Milano cookies to create tombstones.
  4. Begin assembling the cups. Spoon a layer of crushed Oreo "dirt" into the bottom of each clear plastic cup.
  5. Add a layer of chocolate pudding over the "dirt".
  6. Repeat the layers: another layer of "dirt", followed by another layer of pudding.
  7. Top the final pudding layer with a generous amount of "dirt".
  8. Insert one candy tombstone into the "dirt" on top of each cup.
  9. Add a gummy worm, letting it crawl out of the "dirt" for a spooky effect.
  10. Chill the dirt cake cups in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes before serving.

Notes

You can use any type of chocolate sandwich cookies for the dirt. For a richer flavor, you can add a tablespoon of butter to the crushed cookies. Feel free to get creative with your tombstone messages!
