Spooky Rib Cage Mac & Cheese

Ingredients
  

For the Mac and Cheese
  • 1 pound Elbow macaroni
  • 4 tablespoons Butter
  • 1/4 cup All-purpose flour
  • 3 cups Milk
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 3 cups Shredded cheddar cheese
For the Rib Cage Shape
  • 1 package Hot dogs Cut in half lengthwise
  • 1 package Hot dog buns Split lengthwise

Equipment

  • Large pot
  • Colander
  • Baking dish
  • Saucepan

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the elbow macaroni according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute.
  4. Gradually whisk in the milk until smooth. Bring to a simmer, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in the salt, pepper, and shredded cheddar cheese until melted and smooth.
  6. Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce and stir to combine.
  7. Pour the mac and cheese into the baking dish.
  8. Arrange the halved hot dogs over the mac and cheese to form a rib cage shape. Use the split hot dog buns as the sternum and pelvis.
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until bubbly and heated through.

Notes

You can add food coloring to the mac and cheese for a more vibrant Halloween look.
