- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
- In a large bowl, mash the ripe bananas until mostly smooth. Mix in the melted butter, beaten egg, and vanilla extract until combined.
- In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt.
- Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients. Mix gently with a spatula until just combined. Do not overmix the batter.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread evenly.
- Bake for 55 to 65 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the banana bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before turning it out onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes
For a richer flavor, you can substitute brown sugar for the granulated sugar. If your bananas are not very ripe, you can add 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon to the dry ingredients for extra flavor.
